    Acne

Acne is most common during puberty, however it can actually affect people of any age. Although the effects of acne tend to lessen as we get older, if you have experienced severe acne you may have a scar or several scars due to it. Depending on the severity of the acne, these scars can often be with a person the rest of their life and of course, this can lead to a lack of self confidece in your appearance. Acne is caused by the body’s sebaceous glands becoming overactive and producing more natural oils than is normal; these oils can then clog hair follicles and this blockage in turn can cause acne. Although we know what causes it, we don’t fully understand why some people are more prone to acne than others. However, there are certain factors that may increase your chances of suffering from acne. Some of the risk factors for acne include the level of your skin care, your general lifestyle and diet, as well as your overall genetic make up. Needless to say, these acne scars are unsightly and embarrassing and until fairly recently there was no effective way to remove or hide them. However, , thanks to advances in medical and cosmetic techniques these marks can now be effectively camouflaged or even removed altogether to the extent where they are barely visible.

    Acne Scar Treatments

Understanding what triggers acne in the first place, and understanding the different type of acne scar treatments available are important first steps in getting rid of acne scars. Many people don’t realize that acne can develop or worsen with the use of certain medication. Likewise, many of the treatments that people traditionally believe to cause or trigger acne have been repeatedly proven to have no bearing on the unwelcome skin condition. You are no more likely to develop acne if your diet consists of unhealthy and greasy food, than if you follow a healthy or balanced diet. In such, regardless of the diet or any other possible cause of your acne it is recommended that you seek treatment if you wish to remove unsightly scars.

The treatment vaporizes the outer layers of acne scars by applying a laser to the affected area. Today, this treatement is one of the most popular methods to get rid of acne scars. The method results in a more natural and smooth looking skin, by shaving tiny amounts off the scars. Depending on the type and extent of acne scars you have, you may be able to eliminate them by using chemical peel treatment. If you have scars, the best approach is to consult with your doctor who can tell you which method of removal is best for you. There are several acne scar treatments and your doctor or dermatologist can recommend the most suitable by examining your skin and any acne scars.

    Some acne scar treatments include:

    • Coolaser
    • Fat transfer
    • Injectable fillers
    • Microdermabrasion
